Which console is better: Wii, Xbox 360 or PS3?

Since Nintendo and Sega ruled the home consoles market 20 years ago, players have been debating on which is the best platform. Nowadays, with three options at the stores, the discussion continues.

Of course, the three consoles have their strengths: Xbox 360 has the best online game system and for some years its price tag was lower than the PlayStation 3; PlayStation 3 plays movies in Blu-Ray format, for some time, it was possible to install on it the Linux OS; Wii started the trend of the motion sensing controllers.

One of the sale arguments of the PlayStation 3 was the integrated Blu-Ray player, but Xbox 360 countered with the Video Marketplace, a digital service of online movie distribution that reached the first place in USA. Even Wii jumped into the digital entertainment train offering Netflix rentals, so there is not many difference on the multimedia section given that, formats come and go, but all of them reproduce audio and video.

Outside the realm of hot debates on which console is the best, there exist the sale numbers, those favoring Nintendo, who have sold more than 70 million consoles worldwide, followed by Microsoft and its 44 million units, leaving Sony on the third place with 38 million systems sold.

Without entering in details, it may look that the three consoles offer the same: online gaming, audio and video play, social networks integration and motion sensing controllers. What would be the factor that determines the winner? Innovation and exclusivities.
