The most played genres online

Online game is fundamental on the current console generation, Microsoft measures the online activity of Xbox 360 titles daily and publishes a weekly report so the users can see what had the most activity, for either reason: encourage them to make the jump or dust off their old games if they become a trend again.

From the most played online 20 titles of Xbox 360 the week of September 20, eight were first person shooters: three from the Halo franchise, three from Call Of Duty, one from Battlefield and one from Left for Dead.

While it is true that the Gears Of War franchise has a more intricate history than most first person shooters, it still belongs to the genre where the least important is the history itself: the important here is to shot everything that moves and, accordingly, this title has several online modes.

Historically, Electronic Arts has developed an annual game of every one of its sport franchises and 2010 was no exception. The most important deliveries were FIFA 2011 and Madden NFL 11.

In November, one of the most expected action games will launch: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and, one of their strong points is, precisely, the online mode. It will be an interesting experiment since it is very rare that this kind for titles (focused most in the history than in the game system) to feature internet matches.
